Hypnotherapy for Stress

What is stress?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), stress is "a state of worry or mental tension caused by difficult situations." It is a perfectly normal response to challenging situations or threats, but becomes problematic when it is persistent and starts to affect you both mentally and physically. Symptoms of chronic stress can include extreme fatigue, difficulty sleeping and an inability to relax.

A woman with dark skin, wearing an orange sweater and a maroon headband, sitting on the floor with her back against a sofa, looking down with a sad or contemplative expression. There is a guitar in the background leaning against the wall.

“I would recommend seeing therapist to anyone! Especially Sophie!! Taking the step to seek help is a battle in itself and from the first call Sophie was extremely understanding and showed a lot of compassion.”

What causes stress?

The reasons why you may feel stressed will vary, but stress is typically driven by a feeling of overwhelm and a lack of control over a situation. It can affect all aspects of life, from work and relationships to our health and wellbeing.

How does cognitive hypnotherapy treat stress?

Cognitive hypnotherapy doesn't just help you manage stress or feel more relaxed. It works by guiding you to identify the root cause of your stress and address it directly, rather than treating the symptoms alone. Where CBT helps you recognise and reframe unhelpful thoughts, cognitive hypnotherapy goes further, working at a deeper level to create lasting change.

What results can I expect?

People typically report feeling calmer, sleeping better and responding to stressful situations more rationally often after just two to three sessions.
